Stefano Ferretti

In the last 20 years, I worked in cutting-edge space technologies development contexts, as well in strategic and policy oriented environments.
I initially carried out research and development as visiting researcher at NASA MSFC and then I worked in the aerospace industry, at Thales Alenia Space, managing complex infrastructure projects for the International Space Station.
While at the European Space Policy Institute, I published two books with Springer: "Space for Sustainable Development" and "Space Capacity Building in the XXI Century".
Currently I lead the ESA EO Atlantic Regional Initiative, which combines science, applications and data platforms capabilities to address emerging policies and citizens needs, in the context of which I engaged with a large number of partners and stakeholders.
I represent the EO Directorate in the ESA Downstream Gateway embedded team, whereI engage with new actors and stakeholders, defining partnerships to address new trends, policies and opportunities with the capabilities offered by ESA programs.
I co-chair the Committee for the organization of next Living Planet Symposium 2022, which will take place in Bonn, Germany from the 23-27 May 2022. The on-going preparatory work addresses European and global policies and strategies.
